The Best Hubby Ever

I have the best hubby ever. Ok I know that all of you probably think you do. As you should.

***Warning****This***will****get****extra****sappy****read****at****your****own****risk****

I have had many friends. Some I've had for most of my life. Some I've had for a few years. Some I have had for only a short time. I have been through many experiences with my friends. Happy ones, sad ones, angry ones, funny ones and scary ones. I feel that I am a loyal friend. I will try to do all I can for you. I am a generally trusting friend.

Unfotunately I am also a needy friend. I am a moody friend. And I am a grudge holding friend. I'm working on these last three. But if you are willing to stick with me...I think the good out weigh the bad.

You are probably wondering why I'm talking about friends. Well I have only one best best best friend. It is my hubby. He has truly stuck with me thru thick and thin. He supports my outbursts of opinion. He also supports my serious mood swings. He is the best thing to ever happen to me. I am so grateful to have him in my life.

So yesterday I had one of those days. I didn't feel good. I was sick of the kids. I wanted a break. My break is coming in April when we go to Mexico. So I called my hubby and told him I loved him and needed a vacation. He agreed.

He called me back and said he had a babysitter lined up and would next weekend work for me? Awesome. Yes. We have been going back and forth on where to go. We talked about Las Vegas. I love me some LV. I am thinking that a nice quiet getaway would be good. So we are looking at McCall a couple hours up the road in the mountains and snow. It sounds just like what I need.

Thanks again hubby. You are truly the best. I love you.

100 days already?

It has been 100 days of school. Yesterday to be exact. I can't believe already 100 days. This year has gone fast.

A lot of schools celebrate the 100 day mark. Here at the boys school the 2nd grade celebrates by doing a canned food drive for the day and having crazy hair day. Just the 2nd grade. Jacob is our current 2nd grader. He had been looking forward to crazy hair day.

What did he want? What every boy wants. A Mohawk. He's wanted a mohawk for a while. Dave told him before summer hair cuts he will let the boys sport an actual mohawk for a week. They are really looking forward to it.

So Thursday morning Jacob comes in asking for his mohawk. Jacob has the thickest hair ever. As a baby he would cry and scream and yell and gag because he hated his hair to be cut. He said it hurt too bad. It was truly an ordeal. He has gotten better at getting his hair cut. But he still has really thick goregeous hair.

I let Dave go to work on the mohawk, but we couldn't find hair goo strong enough to hold it up. So we ended up giving the works to Jacob. That's right we fluffed and blew it dry and even used my straightener. Which actually worked. That is after the hair was immovable by hairspray. It sizzled when the ceramic heat touched his hair. Made me think about what it does to my hair. Anyway we had a masterpiece.

Was the mohawk enough for crazy hair day? Of course not. There had to be color. Vibrant red color is what Jacob wanted. Sadly for him I was out of red. But never fear..... We have purple. and black. So we striped up Jacob's hair. It is pretty awesome if don't say so myself.

After Jacob got home from school he said the second he walked in the door at school it was like he was a celebrity. The entire class ran up to him and even a couple of teachers came over to touch the masterpiece. Needless to say he had the best crazy hair in the class.

The funniest time of the day was when we had to wash out the mohawk before bed. I think it might of pierced his brain if we hadn't. As we washed his hair the shampoo turned purple, and more purple. We had to wash his head a couple of times because his skin was purple too. But it all came out and he is back to his normal crazy self minus the crazy hair.

Love that crazy kid.

The "Hallmark Holiday"

Dave informed me that my last post was boring so I will try to make this one less zzzzzzz........

Monday was February 14, Also known as Valentine's Day. My husband doesn't believe in Valentine's Day. He thinks it's a farce. I will quote his facebook post for the day.....

" I am sort of anti-valentines day. I feel like it's a "Hallmark Holiday." That being said...Happy Valentines day Jody. I love you."

Hmmmmm...makes you feel all warm and fuzzy doesn't it. Even though Dave doesn't like Valentines day he certainly did his best to support the "hallmark holiday." Or actually supporting his wife's emotions, and gave me the most beautiful bouquet of roses. Not only that I got a card and both our little girls got mini primroses from him. They were really excited.

So even though he's not a fan I really appreciate his effort, and I sort of agree that there shouldn't be one day a year that he has to show his love for me. In the words of another facebook status I read....

I should be worshipped everyday!! My wonderful hubby does just that. Guess what else he is giving me for Valentines day? Someone to come help me clean my house. He really does love me.

I love you Davey!! Thanks for being the best!!

p.s. Just so you know yellow roses are my favorite. People always think it's a little weird he gets yellow which means "friendship" and not red that means love. Truth is he is definately the best friend I have and that's what makes me the happiest.

Where to start....

I am not sure where to start... Last week was extra crazy. Dave had his annual State Kick-Off meeting this last weekend. It is a very stressful time for him and his Admin. Ann and the rest of the state office people. They have a leadership meeting to do for all of the management team here in Idaho South/Oregon East. Then they put on a meeting for all the agents in the "state". After which there is a reception and a formal awards dinner. What is my job? To look good. Oh I'm kidding... sort of.

My job was to do the centerpieces for the formal dinner. We had 18 tables. Shouldn't be too hard should it? Well there is also a theme. That's right for the Aflac Convention in October. Every year at kick-off we decorate according to where the Convention trip would be. In 2010 it was a Carribean Cruise. So easy enough... Tropical. This year for 2011 it's Hawaii. So easy enough.... Tropical. What? Two years in a row? That means I can't be cheap and reuse my last year centerpieces. That means I have to use my brain. GREAT!!!!

Have I ever mentioned my favorite craft store ever? No? Well... get ready for the plug...... It's HOBBY LOBBY!! Ok I know sort of a stupid name. The very first time I stepped into a Hobby Lobby was in Arkansas. It was very ghetto or perhaps country is a better term. I didn't go there for about a year and a half because it looked so blech...But when I did it was seriously Halleluja!! It is so awesome. It is a dream. Plus the prices rock. I try to find reasons to go there. I know it's a sort of an addiction. You would think my house would be better decorated. Never fear I'm working on it.

So I went to Hobby Lobby and tried to figure out something tropical but not tacky for our centerpieces. If we weren't doing a formal dinner it would have been easy, but for our awards banquet I felt it needed to be beautiful too. Last year we did tall white pillar candles on a black charger, with a colorful piece of fabric underneath. Next to the candle we had seashells and a stargazer lily. They were really pretty, but a lot of work with the live flowers.

This year I thought I would do silk flowers. That way I can reuse them. I think they turned out pretty nice. What do you think?

The kickoff was great and I have 10 months to wait to find out what to do for next year.

It's music to my ears

Many many years ago for my birthday my wonderful hubby got me a piano. It was July of 2005 or maybe it was 2006. We were living in Fayetteville, Arkansas at the time. Dave and I got a babysitter and drove to Oklahoma City to pick it up. We rented a Uhaul truck to bring it back in.

So I had my wonderful piano. I was so excited. All that I needed to do was get it tuned.

We moved to Salem, Oregon in January of 2007. My piano looked lovely in my formal living room. Plus I could have a little privacy to play it. All that I needed to do was get it tuned.

We moved to Eagle, Idaho in August of 2009. My piano now had a new home and a new room (the den) to reside. All that I needed to do was get it tuned.

We are still in Idaho and today on February 1, 2011 I got my piano tuned. My poor neglected piano finally got the love it needed and deserved. It is wonderful. I am so excited to play it. I will actually make time to play because now that my piano is tuned it is music to my ears. I am really looking forward to a little bit of music therapy. The nicest thing is I can close the doors to the den and play to my hearts content.

The thing the kids don't know is they get to start piano lessons. The piano is really going to feel the love soon.
